New Year Resolve
As the new year begins each of us needs to examine how am I treating myself and Earth. In a time when massive ice shelves are separating, ocean reefs are dying and climate is changing it is important for each of us to examine how do our daily choices effect what is happening locally in our brown cloud, or globally with warming.
Look back at what you accomplished in 2006 and evaluate how you want to be in this world of constant change. Set goals for this coming year for treating yourself, your community and Earth in the way that honor your part in this great unfolding.

Pain Relief for the New Year
Freedom from those nagging aches
Many of us have aches and pains in the back, the neck and shoulders. Tightness from stress and tension frequently manifests in this area.
You can find relief from these problems with therapies we offer at Dynamic Pathways. Acupuncture for back pain can sometimes be as simple as single needle therapy. It may require needles in the hands, or with more significant pains, needles in the back, hips and legs. It is amazing to feel the pain shift, ease, and often resolve completely.
Many people ask, "How many sessions will it require?" The frequency and duration depends on your individual needs.
A long time associate of mine routinely complained of his back problems. He finally came to see me and after two treatments was relieved to the point that stretching exercises were all that he needed.
Another woman who took 30 plus minutes to go to the bathroom at night and could no longer function during the day, has been seeing me for well over a year. But her complaints have changed. She now complains of being sore after tearing out her carpeting and laying new floors, or building a new front porch.
A woman who had been labeled a drug abuser by the medical community, found relief with a simple muscle release. She now comes for treatment when she feels tight. This release technique provides a local body builder finds similar relief when he works out and gets too tight. Runners with tight back and leg muscles experience similar freedom. This technique works very well in relieving the knots people develop in their shoulders and neck.
Polarity, CranialSacral therapy, Tuina and other Asian therapies can be of equal benefit. You don't have to be sore, tight or in pain. Our therapies can help.

What is Your Ecological Footprint?
What have you done for Earth lately?
A 41 square mile ice shelf has broken free of an arctic island and has the potential to drift into shipping lanes. A recent worst case scenario study in Brazil shows that lack of rain related to global warming could turn the Amazon into a savannah. The United States uses approximately 25% of all the resources produced in the world.
How does your consumption and daily habits feed in to this environmental attack?
The environmental footprint quiz gives you an estimate of where you fit into the bigger picture, and can start you thinking on how you might join in to become part of the change in the world.
Did you know that it takes 20 pounds of grain and 2,000 gallons of water to produce one pound of beef? Seventy percent of the US grain harvest goes to feet livestock. Reduction in the amount of red meat you eat has a very positive impact of how we are treating Earth.
Do you support fair trade products and sustainable agriculture and harvesting? Do you know the top ten foods to eat organically?
Take the ecological footprint quiz

Most people think of candied sweet potatoes with Thanksgiving dinner, and don't do much with them at other times of the year. Try something new with sweet potatoes in the new year. Sweet potatoes are packed with beta carotene (the precursor of vitamin A) and vitamin C. They have more of both vitamins gram for gram than carrots do. They are a good source of protein, and the have more fiber than oat bran.
Try baking apples stuffed with sweet potato, pecans and brown sugar. Or bake a sweet potato in the usual manner but mash it with ginger and honey for a new, exciting taste treat.
Have you tried the sweet potato fries at local restaurants? Of course, I can't advocate deep frying, but try baking sweet potato sticks coated with olive oil and paprika or your favorite seasoning.
And don't forget our baked root vegetable recipe
