Year of Balance
As the new year began we looked at how we are treating ourselves and the earth, our ecological footprint. Now let's see what we can do for ourselves to find that elusive place called balance.
Balance in life requires flexibility and awareness. When are scales are tipped in one direction, balance calls us to make adjustments, so to not tip our scale. By knowing what our resources are - friends, family, financial, education, therapists, doctors - we can make decisions that give us power, peace and health.

Balance
Listening to those nagging aches in the mind, body and soul
Finding nirvana in our body, mind or soul is often as easy as listening to the pain. Pain has a message for us, always. It is simply asking us to shift the way we are currently and consider trying a new approach - this one is not working so well.
When we constantly have tension in our shoulders or anywhere in our body, for example, there are a few solutions. One is to lighten the load, or, assess our level of stress and ask for help or even say "no" to the next request for help and honor the need to do a little less. Another option is to find muscle & pain relief in the form of Acupuncture, Massage or Asian bodywork.
These therapies bring a balancing of fluids to revive tissues and clear waste. (You get oil changes in your car every 3,000 miles don't you?) Where restriction and tightness in the shoulder area previously disrupted wellness from moving through, now this area will be free to communicate better through the nervous system, and others, as pressure is relieved. Yet another option would be talking to someone about the stress you carry in that area. Verbal counseling occurs along with physical therapy to open energies in the body in a Polarity Therapy or CranialSacral session.
[In the same way our body sends pain messages, the mind and soul are doing the same. Yes. Your soul is sending messages in the form of pain too, it's often the only thing you understand.
By making choices more in alignment with your soul, your body will feel better. Polarity Therapy and Life Coaching will help you achieve alignment with your soul.]
As I type, for example, I sense some discomfort in my back, and assessing my posture, I realize I could relax my shoulders and back by gently softening and straightening my posture. The same is often true of the way we are in relationships. Whether it is the relationship to our job or to those around us, often we could soften our posture with them. By being more flexible in relationships, the systems of the body have a chance to be more flexible and find alternative solutions also. Makes sense, doesn't it? Our life is representative of our body and our body representative of our life. Tight mind equals a tight body. Flexible in life can bring about a looseness in the body's systems. And, of course, there's a balance!

Holistic Healing
Choose to empower yourself
By addressing any component of your life or health holistically, you empower your body's own healing process. A healing ability more powerful than all the doctors in the world. Imagine that.
Even the smallest amount of effort encourages cells, tissues and organs to align together with those ideals and focus on healing!
Drink more (water:) - Walk more - Talk more - Breathe more - Help more - Hug more - Rest more.
Think less - Talk less - Eat less - Worry less - Annoy less - Anger less - Drive less - Take less.
These are all holistic applications. Contrary to what we're always being told, we have all the power in the world to live healthy, happy lives. Sometimes we do need some support. Please let us know how we can help.

Here are some of the best reminders for easy recipes.
When we don't eat well, we usually didn't plan well. Keeping small pre-packaged snacks on hand can help us have a better week. When we eat better, we feel better.
Make small containers with celery, broccoli or carrots with water in them to keep them fresh. - A container of peanut butter or hummus for dipping is nice.
Small bags of pre-cut fruit are handy as well as a mix made into a fruit salad. The juices mingling for a day or two often makes this a tasty snack.
Yogurt with some of the fruit mixed in is a good choice between meals.
Other ideas: 1)Make smoothy or juicer quantities for a couple days. The depleted nutrition from a day old juicer far outweighs a bad snack choice. 2)Put your leftovers immediately into lunch containers for the next day. 3)Cook on Sunday with kids/partner for the beginning days of the week.
We all snack. If we plan for it at the grocery store and prepare healthy ones when we get home our nutrition can be a source of balance in our life.

Spiritual Discussion Group
Our spiritual discussion group meets this month at 6:30 at Dynamic Pathways on Monday, 19 February. We will discuss chapters four through six. Our discussions are based on Religion in Exile: A Spiritual Homecoming by Diarmuid O'Murchu.
Everyone is invited to join us. This book examines the evolving spiritual awakening that is occurring for many outside, and for some inside, the formal religious boundaries. We will continue to discuss how this awakening sometimes carries us away from formal religion, and for others, brings them back to it.

Meditation
You can, it helps everything
Meditation can be very simple. As a matter of fact that's the point. As you meditate, your nervous system relaxes causing a rippling effect out from the center of your body. Relaxing organs, tissues and the mind - meditation can be very comforting. This is true especially as you start to notice the benefits affecting your life.
Try this -
Sit upright. Focus on your breath. Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe fluidly in and out for just 10 minutes each day. If your mind wanders bring your attention back to your breath much like teaching a puppy to sit.
Or this -
Breathe in saying the words silently to yourself "I am" and breathe out using the word "peace" or any word of your choosing.
Enjoy!
